Holiday Party Dress Guide

Some people start thinking about what they're going to wear to their Christmas party months in advance. Most of us scramble last minute and struggle to find that one dress that will remind everyone of just how fabulous we are. To help you find something special this season we'll take you through the classics of a holiday wardrobe so you're sure to wear something that promises to raise heads and holiday spirits.

Classic Red

Everyone loves a woman in red. A classic red dress is ultra feminine but can quickly go from classy to trashy. This dress by Ted Baker ($360) shows just the right amount of skin. It's perfectly constructed to flatter the female figure with a layer of lace to add a touch of elegance.

Cobalt Blue

If there is any colour that looks good on almost everyone it's cobalt blue. The royal colour is bright enough to be considered festive yet subtle enough for those of you who feel uncomfortable in anything other than black. Choose to look very lady-like in this fitted long sleeve lace dress by Ted Baker ($375) or simply cool and casual in this inverted triangle dolman sleeve dress by J.Lindeberg ($229).

Sparkle and Shine

If we're honest with ourselves, we can really only get away with wearing sparkles on Halloween. Sequins, however, can fill that void during the holiday season. Make your New Year's celebrations brighter than ever in this 1920s flapper-style dress by Velvet ($279).

Ornate and Geometrical

Mesmerize in a stunning print like this one from Torn by Ronny Kobo ($325).

We all have one and if you don't you're making life a lot harder for yourself. That's because everyone knows you can never go wrong in a little black dress no matter what the occasion. Opt for a jazzy LBD like this one by Ted Baker ($375) with an embellished neck line and ultra flirty flared skirt. Or try on something more edgy with sex appeal like this laser cut neoprene dress from Torn by Ronny Kobo ($338).

Winter White

Anybody who tells you you can't wear white after Labour Day is sadly mistaken. In fact, wearing white in the winter months is very chic and sophisticated. Take for example this peplum-style dress by Stylestalker ($265) with it's dramatic glam.

Dress Alternatives

Don't feel like wearing a dress? You can party with the rest of them and look just as festive in a bedazzled blazer or embroidered jacket like this bolero jacket from Essentiel ($535). Or you can really shake it up with a stunning two-piece set like this blazer and skirt combo from Stylestalker (blazer $265, skirt $178).
